Behind the Bars Wrap
When I first met Jasmine Greene, she came in as raindrops.
I was the awkward musician, and she was the high school queen.
The only things we had in common were our music and our loneliness.
Something in her eyes told me her smile wasn’t always the truth.
Something in her voice gave me a hope I always wished to find.
And in a flash, she was gone.
Years later, she was standing in front of me on a street in New Orleans.
She was different, but so was I. Life made us colder. Harder. Isolated.
Caged.
Even though we were different, the broken pieces of me recognized the sadness in her.
Now she was back, and I wouldn’t make the mistake of letting her go again.
When I first met Jasmine Greene, she came in as raindrops.
When we met again, she was the darkest storm.

Excerpt:

By the way, what happened to Todd’s nose?” I asked. “I broke it,” Elliott said matter-of-factly. “What? How? Why?” He shrugged before turning to look out the window. “He called you a bad name.” “What was it?” “It doesn’t matter.” “Eli,” I started. He turned my way and locked his hazel eyes with my browns. “Jazz…” He shook his head. “It wasn’t true.” I swallowed hard, a big part of me certain Todd’s words held some form of truth. Elliott saw it in me—my fear. He kept shaking his head and whispered, “I don’t feel sorry for you. Sometimes you look at me like you think I feel sorry for you, and I want you to know I don’t. I think you’re perfect the way you are.” I quietly laughed at him repeating the words I’d told him earlier. A few tears rolled down my cheeks. “I’m a little messed up.” “I know.” He nodded. “That’s why I like you.” He went back to staring out the window, and I kept staring at him. And there it was. So small, so tiny, so real. Love. It wasn’t love, but it was the beginning of it. I knew I was young, and I knew it was stupid, but in that moment, I began to fall in love with the quiet boy who quietly cared for me. The boy who was scared and still strong. The boy who stood up for me when he was surrounded by reasons not to do such a thing. I hadn’t known much about love. I hadn’t known how it looked, felt, or tasted. I hadn’t known how it moved, how it flowed, but I knew my heart was tight and currently skipping a few beats. I understood the goose bumps covering my arms. I knew this stuttering boy who was sometimes so scared was someone worth loving. He was worth being the first one I gave my heart to. I knew Elliott Adams was love. And I was falling into him so fast.

My Review:
This story was so beautiful. I loved every page in this book! This story touched my heart, it was so heartwarming. I finished it a day ago with tears in my eyes. I needed time to process my thoughts, my feelings.
Every person had lyrics in their life that were too painful to sing.
The characters were well written, I loved them from the first time. They had problems, awful things happened to them, they were broken. The story developed so slowly, and I loved this. It was believable. They needed time to move on, to process what happened to them.
Just give it a minute. Feel what you need to feel. You can’t rush feelings. You just gotta let yourself ride the wave of them.
Elliot was always bullied in high school, but it didn't bothered him. However his sister (and later Jasmine) didn't want him to suffer. They stood up for him. They were his best friends. What I loved about Elliot that he was an amazing musician, he played saxophone. I loved how he performed on the street. This skinny guy with his talent, his glasses was lovable.
Jasmine suffered a lot because of her mother. She wanted Jasmine to be a popstar, but Jasmine loved soul music, she wanted to sing soul. Nontheless she did everything what her mother wanted, because she wanted her mother to be proud of her, wanted her mother to love her. Jasmine suffered because she stood for Elliot too. She did everything to end his bullying. I liked her because of this, and felt sorry for her because of her mother. Her step dad, Ray stood beside her, I liked him so much. He loved her like she was his biological daughter.
Elliot and Jasmine fell for each other, but unfortunatelly because of Jasmine's mother they seperated. They were far away from each other for ages. Meanwhile something so tragic happened to Elliot. He became cold, the sweet boy disappeared. But I totally understood him.
Sometimes people don’t need words, Elliott. Sometimes they just need the space to feel what they need to feel, with someone present as a reminder that they’re not alone
Jasmine changed a lot too. She wasn't happy with her mother, who couldn't understand that this pop industry wasn't for her. I loved to read about how she stood up for herself and fought for her life, fought for what she love.
Elliot and Jasmine met 6 years later. They changed a lot. They reconnected again. What I loved about the story that their feelings unfolded slowly. Jasmine broke down Elliot's wall so so slowly. I loved them together.
Sometimes it's hard to see things in a different light when you've become so accustomed to the dark.

You’re the music in a mute world, and my heart beats because you’re here.
I hated Jasmine's mother, but there were a lot of lovable characters: Lauren, Ray, TJ.
I love the cover, it's so beautiful! 5*

Véleményem:
Ez egy nagyon szép történet volt. Imádtam minden sorát. Megérintette a szívemet, igazán szívmelengető történet.
Ugyanakkor Jasmine is megváltozott.
