Moments.
Our lives are a collection of moments. Some utterly painful and full of yesterday's hurts. Some beautifully hopeful and full of tomorrow's promises.
I’ve had many moments in my lifetime, moments that changed me, challenged me. Moments that scared me and engulfed me. However, the biggest ones—the most heartbreaking and breathtaking ones—all included him.
I was ten years old when I lost my voice. A piece of me was stolen away, and the only person who could truly hear my silence was Brooks Griffin. He was the light during my dark days, the promise of tomorrow, until tragedy found him. Tragedy that eventually drowned him in a sea of memories.
This is the story of a boy and girl who loved each other, but didn’t love themselves. A story of life and death. Of love and broken promises.
Of moments.
(Book Three in the Elements Series. Complete Standalone.)

My Review
I've never dissapointed in Brittainy C. Cherry. I love all of her books! Her stories are amazing, and she writes so beautifully! This book is perfection! I love Maggie&Brooks' story!
"That's what true love meant to me. True love meant you could laugh at mistakes. True love meant you could whisper secrets. True love meant you never had to dance alone."~Maggie
"Falling out of love meant you couldn't laugh at mistakes. Falling out of love meant you screamed your irritations. Falling out of love meant going your separate ways."~Maggie
"Home was the place where the warmest kinds of love lived between two people."~Maggie
First we read about the past. When Maggie and Brooks were children. Maggie had a crush on Brooks when she was 10. At that time Brooks hated girls. I loved these chapters, they made me smile, how the two of them communicated with each other. They were so cute!
But something happened with Maggie. She became mute, and couldn't leave the house. So Brooks became her anchor, her best friend.
"I'll always be there to listen to your silence."~Brooks
When they became teenager they started to feel more. Maggie's life was simple. She was studying at home, she was reading a lot, and she had Brooks. Brooks had a complete life. He was popular at school, he had a lot of girlfriend before Maggie. Besides he was in a band. He loved music. And they fell for each other.
I totally loved Brooks, because he was so good to Maggie. He was patient, and understanding. Didn't push her to reveal what happened to her, and didn't push her to start speaking. They loved music, they listened to music all the time. And because Maggie was a bookworm they started reading books together, highlighted their favorite parts of the books. It was their thing. I loved it!!
"A person never reads an outstanding book twice and walks away with the same beliefs. An outstanding book always surprises you and awakens you to new ideas, new ways of looking at the world, no matter how many times the words have been read."
They had good and bad days too. And sometimes it wasn't easy to be with Maggie. But Brooks stayed by her side, and tried to help her.
"Everything about you, I love. The easy days and the hard ones, too. Maybe I love you even more on the hard days."~Brooks
"Those who believed in you when you didn't believe in yourself were the ones to hold close. ~Maggie
"Love didn’t come with guidelines. It flowed into a person with only hope as its current. There wasn’t a list of rules to follow, making sure you cared for it correctly. It didn’t give you instructions to keep it pure. It simply showed up quietly, praying you wouldn’t let it slip away."
"Fighting with someone who didn’t fight back was worse than fighting with someone who threw chairs. You felt hopeless, as if screaming at a stone wall."~Brooks
"I hadn’t known you could hear someone’s voice so clearly in the silent moments."
"When you love someone, I think you gotta scream it, otherwise the love in your chest becomes a bit heavy. It weighs you down, and you start wondering if the other person loves you, too."~Brooks
Maggie's muteness and distance was hard not just for Brooks, who fell in love with her, but for her parents too. They felt hopeless, they couldn't help her. They saw the panic in her eyes when she wanted to leave the house. Sometimes they thought Brooks had a good effect on Maggie. But sometimes they didn't know if this relationship was good for her. Or for Brooks, because he was young, he started his career in a band. And I totally understand the parents when they wanted to seperate them. And Maggie understood this too.
"Not all broken things need to be fixed. Sometimes they just need to be loved. It would be a shame if only people who were whole were deserving of love."~Brooks
"When you loved someone, you let them fly away, even if you weren't on the same flight."~Maggie
"It turned out missing someone never became easier, it just became quieter. You learned to live with the longing pain inside you. You mourned the moments you’d shared and allowed yourself to hurt sometimes, too."~Maggie
They seperated but I loved how they kept in touch. I loved the notes too, but sometimes I was so so sad because they weren't together. But Brooks lived his dream, he became a popular musician. And Maggie lived her life too, how she could. They changed a lot. And I respect Maggie because of her decision.
"Maybe time changes the way we view stories. Maybe as we grow, life experiences shift the meanings of the books. Maybe I'm not the same person I was those years ago when I read it."~Brooks
"The saddest fact in the world was that you could meet a person who changed your life forever, and they weren't the one you ended up with. The people wo taught you to love weren't always the ones who stayed."~Maggie
I love Brittainy C. Cherry's voice. I love how she writes. Her books are so beautiful!
"That was the thing about love. It didn’t leave because you told it to go. It simply stayed quiet, bleeding out from the pain, still praying you wouldn’t let it slip away."
"Being in love with someone didn’t mean you only loved them during the sunbeams. It meant you stood by their side during the cloudy nights, too."
"Sometimes the rain was more pleasing than the sun. Sometimes the hurt was more fulfilling than the healing. And sometimes the pieces of a puzzle were more beautiful when scattered apart."
As always, Brittainy C. Cherry's new book, The Silent Waters got 5* from me!
I recommend it to everyone who love her books, and to those who haven't read from her. You should!

I'm happy because the first book in the Elements Series, The Air He Breathes was released in Hungary a week ago. I think I'm going to buy some for my Hungarian booklover friends! ;)
